Investor Perception
Our Investor Update Investor Perception study is designed to provide unbiased sentiment and feedback from the buy-side and sell-side.
Many of the most successful C-suite executives are those who do not assume they already know what their investors think.
Engaging in a third-party perception study to uncover blind spots can, if identified and addressed, drive great improvements. This is also the case for new management teams, supervisory boards or ahead of Capital Market Days.
Critical to management thinking
As a more in-depth, strategic undertaking, a perception study is an opportunity to take a ”deeper dive” into the themes of company strategy, the equity story, financials, ESG, management and communication that are critical to management thinking and the IR function. We design the form and focus of each Investor Perception study around the objectives of our clients.
How it works
Our approach involves interviewing fund managers and sell-side analysts from a pre-agreed list, asking the right questions, uncovering market sentiment, and gaining insight into the concerns of our clients’ investor base.
Preparation is key to a successful Perception Study. We take time to consider and construct a list of open-ended questions with our clients, which will encourage interviewees to express their views candidly with quantitative input where relevant.
Our objective is to gain insight and opinion from your investors, to understand what are the drivers behind their investment decision-making process and what are the barriers to increasing and maintaining investment in a competitive market for capital.
A detailed Investor Update report will provide a summary, qualitative and quantitative analysis, verbatim quotes and full transcripts of the most productive interviews.

Case Study
Large-Cap Consumer Goods
Comprehensive deep dive into market views of the company’s strategy, communications and management.
15 major investors and 10 influential sell-side analysts were interviewed to garner a broad and frank view of the company’s strengths and weaknesses, delivered by Investor Update in an 80 page report. Whilst Management was held in high regard, there were clear concerns voiced on whether the company strategy was the right one, as well as on the mixed track record of delivery on production targets.
Clear feedback allowed management and IR to counter concerns head-on as well as fine-tuning the strategy to reflect key issues.
